The featured staff member of the week is Mrs. Tiffney Forand! Mrs. Forand is a graduate of Millville Senior High School in Millville, New Jersey. She earned her associate’s degree in early childhood education from Cumberland County College, then went on to complete her bachelor’s degree in humanities at Thomas Edison College. She also holds her Pre-K– 3 teaching certification from Montclair State College and a special education certification from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Mrs. Forand has been teaching preschool for an incredible 16½ years and has spent the past 3½ years at South Dearborn. She loves being part of a child’s first school experience and takes great pride in helping her students develop a love of learning and the confidence to succeed as they move forward in their education.
Outside of school, Mrs. Forand enjoys spending time with her husband and three boys. She’s a big fan of amateur wrestling and football, and she loves crafting in her free time. Fun fact: Mrs. Forand is a green belt in Tae Kwon Do!
We’re so lucky to have Mrs. Forand as part of our South Dearborn family! Her warmth, dedication, and passion for helping students start their educational journey on the right foot make her a truly special part of our school community.

South Dearborn Community School Corporation would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Tulsa Henderson for visiting Barrel of Monkeys Childcare and helping our youngest future Knights get comfortable with the school bus experience. During the visit, Tulsa introduced the children to the bus, showed them what to expect, and helped them practice the routines that keep everyone safe. Thanks to Tulsa’s patience and encouragement, these soon-to-be students took an exciting first step toward feeling confident and ready for their first day of school next year.

In Mrs. Kleindienst’s kindergarten classroom at Dillsboro Elementary School, students are bringing gratitude to life! Each student is designing and coloring feathers for their class ‘Thankful Turkey,’ writing something they’re thankful for on every feather. Together, they’ve created a bright, heartfelt display celebrating kindness, appreciation, and the joy of giving thanks.

I was able to attend the various Veterans Day Celebrations at SDCSC Yesterday. What makes Veterans Day so special at SD is that the teachers instill the meaning of the day and teach our students service and sacrifice prior to the day. Then on Veterans Day through art and music our students get to thank our veterans in person. It’s truly special to see. I hope all of our veterans felt the love and appreciation from our students and staff. We are truly grateful for your service and sacrifice. 🇺🇸 - Supt. Mrs. Edwards’s fourth-grade students at Aurora Elementary School explored the food chain this week! After learning new vocabulary and discovering how energy moves from one organism to the next, students brought their studies to life by creating their own food chains, complete with producers, consumers, and predators.

Ms. Holt’s South Dearborn Middle School students spent time reading and annotating articles about veterans and the symbols that honor them. Then, through poetry and music, they also explored how these tributes convey meaning and deepen our understanding of veterans’ service and sacrifice.

South Dearborn High School’s boys and girls basketball teams spent Sunday afternoon assembling 47 Christmas trees and testing lights to support the Dearborn County Recycling Center’s annual Christmas Giveaway. Their teamwork and service are helping prepare for a beloved community event that supports local families during the holiday season. We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes for giving their time and talent to the community! The Christmas Giveaway will take place Saturday, December 6th, from 9:00am to noon. This free event allows anyone to pick out holiday decorations, artificial trees, ornaments, gift wrap, craft supplies, and more—all donated by the public. No exchanges or donations are required, and quantity limits may apply so everyone has the opportunity to participate. If you’d like to donate gently used holiday decor, artificial trees (with all parts), ornaments, gift wrap, or similar items, donations are accepted year-round at the Recycling Center drive-thru during business hours. Lights do NOT need to work; they will be repaired on-site. Donation drop-off hours: • Monday–Friday: 9:00am–4:00pm • Wednesday extended hours: 9:00am–6:00pm A huge THANK YOU to our boys and girls basketball teams for volunteering their time and to their coaches Brad Moorhead and Julie Messmore, and Director of Community Partnerships Mary Bailey for their leadership in making this community service opportunity possible!
