Join us on Wednesday, October 21st, from 6:00 to 8:00pm to meet your student's teachers and see their classrooms.

Students, remember that getting to your stop a few minutes early, waiting a safe distance from the road, and letting the bus come to a complete stop before you approach all help the morning go smoothly. Once you're on board, staying seated, keeping your voice at a comfortable level, and keeping the aisle clear lets your driver keep their full attention on the road.
For drivers sharing the road with our buses: when red lights are flashing and the stop arm is out, we ask that you stop and wait until the lights go off and the bus begins moving again. Slowing down and staying alert near bus stops makes a real difference for the children walking to and from them.
And to our South Dearborn bus drivers: thank you! You get our students to school and home safely every day, in every kind of weather, and our families are grateful for it!

"Hatchet" follows 13-year-old Brian Robeson, who has to survive alone in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash, with only a hatchet to help him. Over the course of the book, students followed Brian's characters, events, and details, and the quiz let them show how well they remembered and understood them.

Those basics will carry through the rest of the year. Every project students build from here, from drawings to sculptures, will use the color choices and balanced designs they practiced.

They paired geography with culture: where a country sits on the map, what its land looks like, and what its people play and celebrate. Putting those pieces together gave students a fuller picture of Europe than a list of names to memorize.

Walk the halls, find your student's classrooms, and meet their teachers. It's a good chance to see where your student spends the day and to ask questions in person.
Families, we would love to see you there!

Smudging on purpose is a real art technique, and the students practiced it until their landscapes looked the way they imagined.

Pre-sale tickets are discounted and available now in each school's office. Pick your tickets up ahead of time and skip the line at the gate.
Come out for one last home Friday night and cheer our Knights on to victory against the Tigers! 📣

When students recently went shopping, they had to do the math. Each one worked out whether they had enough bucks for an item, and some decided to save up for a bigger prize instead. They had a great time, and they practiced budgeting along the way.
You can help stock the store! On Wednesday, October 14th, from 4:00 to 8:00pm, Skyline Chili at 714 Eads Parkway in Lawrenceburg will donate 20% of your total purchase to the AES Positive Behavior Store. Mention the AES fundraiser when you order.

Bring the family, enjoy a meal, and help support our students.

Each pair had to plan, test, and adjust as they went. They practiced teamwork and problem-solving, and they got a very tasty reminder that learning can be fun!

Because the groups were small, each student got to take part and learn alongside classmates. Apple centers made practice something the kids looked forward to. 🍎

Along the way they studied force, friction, gravity, inertia, acceleration, and collisions, then carried those ideas right to the Farmers Fair midway. Why does a coaster speed up on the drop? Why do seat belts exist? Thanks to these experiments, they had answers.
Critical thinking, teamwork, and a few failed designs made these lessons stick.

From the gym to the field to the track, our coaches build teamwork, grit, and confidence that carries our Knights well past the final whistle.
Thank you to all of our coaches for everything you do for South Dearborn!

Students greeted, checked in, and directed hundreds of guests, artists, and exhibitors as they arrived. They also worked as celebrity assistants, managing guest lines and taking photos of fans with the actors. Along the way, they got to know actors, artists, vendors, expo staff, and fellow volunteers.
This was the club's fifth year volunteering at Comic Expo. We love seeing our Knights helping out in the community!

Math practice looks a little different in Mrs. Wuestefeld's Applied Algebra class at South Dearborn High School, where students work through stations, board work, and math games to sharpen the skills they've been building.
These hands-on activities give students opportunities to collaborate, problem-solve, and apply their mathematical knowledge in a fun, interactive way.
Turns out algebra sticks a little better when you're up and moving.

Over the past week, students in Mr. Muddiman's art class at South Dearborn High School began a colored pencil project inspired by macro photography.
Before picking up a pencil, students researched macro images, those extreme close-ups that reveal textures, patterns, and colors most of us walk right past. They sketched three subjects that caught their eye, then ran through a layering and blending exercise to learn how colored pencils can build up color, value, and depth.
Now comes the real thing: one idea, one 12" x 18" sheet, and a lot of patient observation as they layer and blend their way to a realistic drawing of the subject they chose.
This lesson is more than a drawing. It's a reminder that when you slow down and look at something ordinary long enough, it starts to get interesting.

Our South Dearborn High School Cheerleaders spent Sunday morning at Union Terminal for the Jeff Wyler Fast Lane Event, meeting VIP kids, taking pictures, and handing out plenty of smiles.
We're so proud to see our Knights showing up for the community!

It built real research and public speaking skills, and it set the stage for what came next: babysitting and toy design units where they put all of their learnings to use!

Today is National School Custodian Appreciation Day, and we're saying thank you to the custodial staff who keep every South Dearborn Community School Corporation building clean, safe, and ready for our students each day.
From mopped hallways before the first bell to locked doors after the last light goes out, their work makes everything else possible, even when nobody's watching.
Thank you to our custodians for everything you do for South Dearborn!
