Dear South Dearborn Families,

Welcome back to the 2026-2027 school year!

As our halls once again fill with the excitement of students, families, and staff, I am reminded of the incredible momentum building across South Dearborn Community School Corporation. We are proud of where we have been, excited about where we are going, and committed to continuing to provide exceptional opportunities for every student.

Over the past year, our district has made significant investments to strengthen the educational experience for our students and families. This fall, we are excited to open our new South Dearborn Preschool, providing our youngest learners with a strong foundation and an opportunity to begin their educational journey in our district.

We are also continuing the important work of implementing our Profile of a Graduate. This shared vision defines the skills, values, and characteristics we want every South Dearborn graduate to possess—preparing students not only for college and careers, but for success in life beyond our classrooms. We believe every student should leave South Dearborn as  Knowledgeable, Navigators, Integrity-Driven, Good Communicators, Hardworking, Thoughtful Citizens, and Self-Directed Learners ready to embrace the opportunities ahead.

Our commitment to improving our facilities and learning environments is also evident across the district. We have completed our new transportation facility and bus barn, providing a more efficient workspace for our transportation team and expanding our ability to serve students for years to come. We have enhanced our athletic complex, creating an even better experience for our students, athletes, families, and community. At Dillsboro Elementary, students will soon enjoy a new outdoor learning space that provides teachers with another innovative environment to engage students. We have also continued investing in safety and security improvements throughout our buildings while completing important concrete and asphalt projects that improve accessibility, safety, and the overall appearance of our campuses.

Supporting the whole child remains a priority. This year, we are excited to expand mental health support by adding an additional counselor at Aurora Elementary School, ensuring our youngest students have access to the resources they need to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

While these accomplishments are important, the true strength of South Dearborn has always been our people. Our teachers, staff members, families, and community partners are the reason our schools continue to grow and succeed. Every day, caring adults across our district encourage students, create opportunities, and help students discover their potential.

There is tremendous excitement ahead for South Dearborn. We are building positive momentum, honoring our proud traditions while embracing new opportunities that will make our district even stronger. The Knight Train is gaining speed, and we are excited about the journey ahead as we continue moving forward together.

We invite every student, family, staff member, and community partner to climb aboard and be part of this incredible journey. Together, we will continue creating opportunities, celebrating successes, and making South Dearborn a place where every student can thrive.
