The featured staff member of the week is Mrs. Judy Bramstedt. Mrs. Bramstedt graduated from McCauley High School in College Hill, Cincinnati. After high school, she became a director of a daycare. This unlocked her true passion: teaching. When she decided to become a teacher, she attended Northern Kentucky University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. For the past 23 years, she has taught at Aurora Elementary School. She has taught a variety of g...rades, but she
currently teaches sixth grade.
Mrs. Bramstedt has been married for 43 years—wow! She and her husband have two children, who have blessed them with four grandchildren. They also have a dog. For fun, she enjoys spending time with her family, being outside, gardening, and being involved with the AES Garden Club. A fun fact about Mrs. Bramstedt is that she once went skydiving! We are so blessed that she is in her third decade of serving our Red Devils!

Mrs. Davis’s class at South Dearborn Middle School took a deep dive into meteorology by exploring the differences between weather and climate using CK-12, a dynamic online learning platform that provides interactive simulations, videos, and activities to enhance science education. Through hands-on digital lessons, students discovered that weather refers to short-term atmospheric conditions, such as daily temperature, precipitation, and wind patterns, while climate describes long-term trends in a region’s weather over decades or even centuries. By engaging with CK-12’s interactive tools, students strengthened their critical thinking skills and developed a deeper understanding of how environmental patterns shape our world. These valuable insights will help them analyze real-world changes in climate and weather, preparing them to be informed thinkers about the environment! 🌦️

Eighth-grade Medical Detective students at South Dearborn Middle School have been deeply immersed in a compelling forensic investigation into the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Over the past two weeks, students have analyzed evidence presented during James Earl Ray’s trial, sharpening their critical thinking and analytical skills while gaining a deeper understanding of this pivotal moment in history. We were honored to welcome Dr. Jennifer Rivera, a distinguished forensic scientist, who provided firsthand insights into the complexities of determining causes of death and the critical role forensic experts play in seeking justice for crime victims. Her expertise not only enriched students’ understanding of forensic science but also emphasized the real-world impact of historical events on modern society.

This past week motivational speaker Marc Mero spoke to SDCSC Students, faculty, and community members. Over my career I have had the opportunity to see many professional speakers and I must say that Mr. Mero’s discussion of choices is one of the most impactful that I have seen. He did a fabulous job and our students were really engaged in his stories. Marc Mero used to be a professional wrestler. Growing up this is how I bonded with my own father so the little boy in me came out and I had to get a photo with Johnny B Badd (Marc’s stage name) and his championship belt! 💪🏻 I want to give a shout out to SDMS assistant principal Mr. Grant Schiering and School Resource Officer Ryan Brandt for their leadership in bringing Marc to SDCSC. I also want to thank our generous sponsors: Dearborn County Health Department, Dearborn County CASA and Aurora Public Library District. Without their financial support this event would not have been possible! - Supt. Ross #SuccessDriven #GrowExcelAchieve @marcmero
