South Dearborn Middle School students in Mrs. Truitt's seventh and eighth grade science classes learned about the total solar eclipse through an interactive assignment designed like an escape room. Escape rooms are rooms filled with problem solving activities that need to be completed in a specific order to accomplish "escaping" the room. Students were tasked with solving puzzles as the classroom began to gradually darken, lower in temperature, and nocturnal creature sounds intensified. The goal was to solve the puzzles prior to complete darkness ascending, similar to the solar eclipse.
