SCHOOL CLOSINGS/DELAYS
EARLY DISMISSALS
When conditions call for cancellation or delaying of school, or in the event it becomes necessary for early dismissal during the school day, parents are reminded family emergency plans should be in place for their student. Please make sure the child has thorough knowledge of those plans.
Due to South Dearborn’s transportation system, if one school is closed, it is necessary to close all of them. The local radio station, WSCH-FM, 99.3, will be the first contacted. The decision, if possible, will be made by 6:00 a.m.
The following stations will provide school closing coverage:
| WSCH-FM 99.3 WCKY 550 WSAI 1530 WRRM-FM 98.5 WLW 700 WINK-FM 94.1 WUBE 1230/FM 105.1 WCPO-TV WKRC-TV WLW-TV |

PLAN B
If weather or road conditions necessitate a DELAY in starting the school day, this will be indicated by calling for “Plan B,” which means that school will start two (2) hours later than usual.
Plan for Make-Up Days is Established
The Indiana General Assembly, via House Bill 1360 adopted in the 1987 session – requires all schools to have 180 student days during the school year. Each day missed WILL BE MADE UP. Missed dates required to be made up include those caused by snow, flooding, water line breaks, or whatever reason. During the 2009-2010 school term, days will be made up on February 15, 2010 (President’s Day) if needed. All additional days will be made up beginning on June 1, 2010.
PTO COMMUNITY PHONE TREE
If you need assistance in getting “emergency closing” information, your community PTO has established a committee to conduct a phone tree to assist schools in getting out this information. If you are interested, contact your elementary school’s PTO.
